July 4th Declarations

Scary sounds crack
outside the windows.
They are meant to be patriotic,
but mostly they just wake up the babies.
Mothers are always like this:
Look, whatever mess you want to make,
just don’t bring it home.
This rarely works.
Time to take the fireworks
into our own hands,
women.
