Covered wagons

February 18, 2014

Today lurched along
so weirdly odd you wouldn’t believe it
if it were a novel.
I expect locusts at any moment.
So we read about digging wells
and log cabins and xenophobia and
we were glad we didn’t have fever ‘n ague,
and instead of braiding prairie grass little girl worked her rainbow loom.
And we felt the wide winds blow through us.
