Darlings,
I’m releasing a new thing into the world tomorrow,
and it is from my heart.
Well, it’s from YOUR heart,
but I took dictation.
And I’m doing a secret 24-hour giveaway
just here,
for you sweethearts,
because your comments feel like
love letters to me.
In the comments, tell me
what you think YOUR life would say
if it wrote you a love letter.
Three randomly chosen winners
will receive Love Letters from your life
for free.
Love,
me

Thank you so much to each of you who entered– I loved, loved, LOVED reading what your life is saying to you. And I love that you are listening.

much love,
Anna

Celebrations

March 23, 2011

So many things to toast!
Old friends, new ones,
milestones, touchstones.
The corners of my life
coming together
in a sweet little pleat.

We found this magic place.
They have rooms of books,
and etched stone stairways,
and a bronze tree in the
Beverly Cleary children’s room.
And they will let you take home
their books.
How many? we asked.
As many as you can carry, they said.
Or, 150.
Welcome to America, baby.

Cherries on my couch

February 25, 2011

Mama?
Her voice quavered.
I’m really, really sorry.
My antennae were up instantly.
Oh shit, this was going to be
bad.
She had drawn cherries on the couch.
I wanted to make it cuter,
she explained.
However. That’s not the big news.
This little hoodlum
was accepted into
the amazing beautiful school
where they use words like
imagination and creativity.
(Which is good, because look at those
formulaic cherries! But I digress.)
Joy and elation and confetti!
Now all we need is a financial miracle.
Will it sound strange if I tell you
that this is exactly what
I expect?

Approaching burnout

February 21, 2011

Tomorrow,
I am getting a massage.
Therefore I can go on.

Today’s vocabulary words:

Delicious

Gorgeous

Piquant

Stunning

and

A wellspring of gratitude.

Ahhh.

January 29, 2011

Today was a pretty
spectacular day.
Live tv with my buddy,
drinks with new friends,
a sassy girly dance class
to wake up this poor creaky body,
and a Philly cheese steak with old friends.
I even scribbled in my journal on the train.
But none of that beat hopping into the bath
when I got home and the girl hugging my knees
and asking how her day was and hearing ‘Goooo,’
and asking what the bath salts were that were so
stringy
and hearing, ‘Phlegm.’

Funny Duddies

December 24, 2010

Oh,
it’s just all
so good,
I can hardly
bear it.
She turned
to her grandfather
today and said,
“We just have
the funnest times,
don’t we??”
And that is
the truth.

And yet we dearly miss the other grandparents,
so here is some love winging across the ocean to New Zealand…

Birthday celebrations continue

November 21, 2010

I have already received
many beautiful and
lovely gifts,
but the best of them all
was handed to me with the words,
Let me tell you what it says, Mommy.
It says, To Mommy, love with
so much love
love, love, love,
from me.

Succulent

November 19, 2010

Oh, I worked so hard today.
I finished up the day
exhausted.
Exhilarated.
It was all for me.
It was all for seedlings that
I want to put out into the world.
It was delicious.
